The 4 Cs of Consent

  • Continuous: Consent can be revoked during any time, it is okay to change your mind and no longer wanting to engage in activities.
  • Clear: verbal and non-verbal communication with both partners are crucial. Checking in with your partner about your likes and dislikes, and vice versa to make sure everyone’s boundaries are respected.
  • Conscious: Everyone must be fully competent and able to consent. If someone is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, unconscious, or otherwise incapacitated, they are unable to consent.
  • Coercion: If someone is being pressured, manipulated, or feeling threatened in any way, then consent is not present
